Hammering Hank knew how to focus

Today we mourn the passing of a true baseball legend, Hank Aaron.

I heard a story about him that helped me understand the meaning of focus. It was said that when the Braves were up to bat and he was on the bench, he would sit with his baseball cap over his face. When asked why, he responded that he would look through the eyelet holes at the opposing pitcher. It put out of frame anything other than the pitcher's movements and allowed him to focus and study in such a way he'd be better prepared when facing him in the batter's box.

Hammering Hank didn't surpass Babe Ruth's record using chemicals. He used his ability to focus. It was a lesson I won't forget.

He was a good man and will be missed.
